Beaming Into the Void

Finding meaning in a world that’s lost its way

A weekend virtual creative retreat for meaning-making in an unsettled world

When “keep calm and carry on” just doesn’t cut it

Many of us are exhausted by the current state of the world.

We feel frustration, anger, grief, confusion, and helplessness, alongside a deep desire to do something meaningful, and an equally strong urge to tune out. We’re told to stay calm, stay productive, and keep going, even as everything feels increasingly unsettled.

Beaming Into the Void is an invitation to do something different.

Rather than screaming into the void or shutting down, we practice beaming something back- through creativity, reflection, values, and collective care.

Participants often leave with:

  • Greater clarity about values and what matters now

  • A felt sense of purpose and meaning

  • Creative momentum and new ways of expression

  • Tools for understanding their sensory and emotional needs

  • Relief from being witnessed and understood

This retreat doesn’t promise answers to everything, but it offers a way to stay human and connected in the midst of uncertainty.

Let’s try a few different ideas on instead, shall we?

What Is Beaming Into the Void?

Beaming Into the Void is a weekend-long virtual retreat intensive for frustrated, justice-minded humans who can’t unsee, unfeel, or uncare, even when it feels heavy to hold all of that awareness.

This retreat centers name-taking and meaning-making: giving language, form, and creative expression to what you’re carrying, and reconnecting with purpose in ways that don’t rely on hustle, positivity, or self-abandonment.

Together, we’ll move out of overloaded, anxious left brains and into right-brain ways of knowing- making room for imagination, creativity, and deeper truth.

This Space Is For You If:

  • You feel burnt out, disenchanted, or overwhelmed by an unsettled world
  • You care deeply about justice and feel the weight of it in your body
  • You feel pulled between wanting to act and wanting to withdraw
  • You’re craving purpose, creativity, and connection — not platitudes or quick fixes
  • You want to process what’s happening without doing it alone

Important note: This retreat is not group therapy. It is informed by therapeutic and coaching frameworks and designed to be emotionally attuned and supportive, with optional sharing and clear boundaries.

And hey:

Unlearning is a process that takes time and can be intimidating or uncomfortable. Even though in this case, discomfort is actually a good thing (a sure sign that change is a-brewin’!), feeling hesitant is totally understandable.

But if you can connect with the part of yourself that’s curious enough to take the first step, there is so much goodness waiting for you ahead. Need help sooner?

I am a 40ish fat, Hispanic, neurosensitive cis-woman and mother. I'm an anti-diet therapist and therapeutic coach specializing in trauma, disordered eating, IPV, anxiety, grief and loss, and parenting

My work is firmly grounded in fat liberation, intersectional feminism, anti-oppression frameworks, self-compassion and existential thought. I am certified in Body Trust® and nonprofit leadership, and have extensive training in HAES®, Intuitive Eating, IFS, ACT, MI, and mindfulness practices.

What are the call dates and times?

What if I have to miss a session?

In order to protect confidentiality and maintain safety for participants, group sessions are not recorded, so you will need to be present to benefit from the group discussions. If you need to miss a session, I understand that things happen sometimes. I just ask that you drop me a line and keep me in the loop.

Will working with you help me lose weight?

Body changes are normal- especially as we move through the lifespan- which usually includes fluctuations in weight. We also don’t know what will happen to your weight when you give up dieting. And sometimes, even if you believe in body liberation and fat acceptance, you may still engage in intentional weight loss. There is no judgment for that here.

When you work with me, our focus will be on shifting perspective, changing harmful and counterintuitive habits, and enhancing your quality of life. I want to emphasize that although I do not offer weight loss services, I firmly believe that body autonomy is paramount, so what you choose to do in your body is your business, no one else’s.

Do you provide nutrition advice or counseling?

I do incorporate the principles of Intuitive Eating and focus on themes around food and hunger, however I am not a dietitian or nutritionist and I do not offer medical advice.

Are Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, and Body Trust® based on evidence?

Even though I have personal experience with recovery from disordered eating, working with me is far from a bunch of “I did it, so you can too!” advice that isn’t based on scientific evidence.

There are so many factors- many out of your control- that impact health, including genetics, medical conditions, discrimination, food insecurity, and trauma. Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, Body Trust®, and self-compassion have a robust research base that actually accounts for major factors like weight stigma and other forms of oppression that are completely missing from the studies we see gracing the mainstream headlines. We’ll talk all about it!

Are you providing therapy or coaching? What’s the difference?

Therapy offers space to heal, process, and make meaning of emotional pain, patterns, and mental health concerns. Coaching is a collaborative, forward-looking process focused on growth, values-aligned goals, and intentional change without diagnosing or treating mental illness.

You may benefit from therapy if you’re seeking support with trauma, emotional distress, or mental health symptoms. Coaching may be a good fit if you’re feeling generally stable and want support with clarity, accountability, life transitions, or creating change aligned with your values.

I am able to provide therapy to folks who live in the state of RI, where I am licensed, and can provide therapeutic coaching to folks living everywhere else.

Are you available on-call or in an emergency?

No. If you are experiencing a mental health or medical emergency, please contact emergency services in your area.

Can we work together if I have a health condition?

While everyone who could benefit from this work is welcome, it is best that folks who are medically unstable or are consistently in acute crisis seek emergency-based care. If you are currently suffering/actively recovering from an eating disorder, please consult with your medical provider/team prior to working with me to determine whether outpatient services are appropriate. If you have questions about your particular situation, I’ll be happy to share my recommendation as to whether my services are right for you at this time.

Do you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, while health insurance can reimburse for therapy, it does not currently reimburse for coaching services. On the plus side, taking insurance out of the equation allows me to offer equity pricing and to focus 100% of my time and energy on client care. I can provide documentation (superbills) for you to submit for out-of-network insurance reimbursement on your own, if requested.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

A limited number of sliding-scale spots are available in the spirit of collective care. If you need one, contact me.

Do you offer refunds?

To preserve the integrity of the group, all group program enrollments are final. If there are extenuating circumstances, reach out and we can discuss.

Do you ever meet in-person?

In an effort to make myself accessible to anyone anywhere, all sessions with me are conducted virtually.

Is there anyone who would not be the right fit for your services?

If you are seeking a weight-loss program, you won’t find it here. But if you are genuinely curious and looking to ask more questions, great! You may not feel fully on-board with anti-diet concepts yet, and that makes sense. There’s a lot of unlearning to do!

Is the group program or individual coaching the best fit for my needs?

If you are uncertain, book a free discovery call with me and I'll be happy to help you decide.
