You are not what you eat.
What you are is worthy – of truly holistic health, and a life that lights you up.
Individual life and body coaching to reclaim your Sovereign Self

Does this ring a bell?
You’ve tried diets and weight loss schemes, even those packaged as a “lifestyle change” or touted as “holistic health”
You’re feeling out of control around food, restricting it or binging on it
You’ve joined regimented, often punishing exercise and personal training programs
You’ve endured medical or psychological interventions that perpetuate body harm rather than produce healing
You feel surrounded by reinforcements of the diet culture mindset (that’s basically all of us!), including loved ones, any form of media, predatory marketing, and possibly trauma and internalized negative self-talk
What you need to know most of all is that none of this is your fault – and food, willpower, your body, and you yourself are not the problem.
The problem is deprivation, shame, and guilt, also known as diet culture.
In the name of self-improvement and a flawed definition of “health,” we have been sold tools of self-harm, so when it inevitably goes bad, we can be blamed and shamed into trying again and again. (Sound familiar? You’re not alone!) We are a society that is positively drowning in diet talk, fatphobia, and routine, systemic oppression of marginalized identities.
Holistic health goes beyond the physical and incorporates psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, interpersonal and social determinants of health. True well-being includes making connections, doing work that is meaningful, feeling fulfilled in your life, and pursuing what really, deeply matters to you – not losing your precious energy and time trying to change your body.
Diet culture is the disease, and the antidote is self-compassion. Ready to get started, love? You’re in good hands.
You are already living your life, right here, right now
The question is: Do you want to keep living it the way you have been?
In his book On Becoming a Person, Carl Rogers, founder of the Humanistic approach in psychology, said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
But it’s not your body that needs any changing at all – instead, with support and new tools, you can change your mind.
Weight loss as a goal keeps you stuck, waiting for your life to begin. In our culture that demands constant “self-improvement,” it’s so normalized to strive to change our bodies – and it’s an endless pursuit that is literally impossible to win.
Your life is happening NOW. Are you really feeling connected to it? Or are there opportunities, dreams, and ideas that are passing you by because you think your body needs to change first? “If only I looked like that, I could do this.” “Once I look like her, I can finally get started doing this.”
It takes practice and support to change how you see yourself, but there is absolutely another way. It is 100% possible to feel joy, freedom, and fulfillment without changing a thing about your external appearance. (Well, except the aura of joy. We are definitely going for the glow here.)

WELCOME TO
The Sovereign Self
Because you’re done with the weight loss game and waiting for life to begin.
You can bring your hopes and what-if dreams to life, and Sovereign Self life and body coaching is here to support you.
Giving yourself the dedicated time, space, and tools to reconnect with yourself helps you:
Drown out the noise
and switch your locus of control from external to internal, so you can always rely on yourself to steer you in the right direction.
Learn to believe that you are worthy
and lovable and loved, without having to change a thing about your body.
Reconnect with your intuition and inner Self
and prioritize compassionate self-care over the outside voices that “should” all over you.
Enjoy eating
and neutralize any morality or rules that have been assigned to it.
Realize you are in charge of your own life
and feel empowered to pursue whatever the f*%& you want.
Get inspired to mobilize, advocate
and pay it forward in your community.

And hey:
unlearning is a process that takes time and can be intimidating or uncomfortable. Even though in this case, discomfort is actually a good thing (a sure sign that change is a-brewin’!), feeling hesitant is totally understandable.
But if you can connect with the part of yourself that’s curious enough to take the first step, there is so much goodness waiting for you ahead.

The experts have spoken.
Let’s follow the facts instead of fear and body shame.

“Research [shows] that body image is a much stronger predictor of health than body size.
That means two people of the exact same size could have wildly different outcomes depending solely on their degree of body acceptance. Wanting to shrink your body means poorer health, no matter your size.”
-Christy Harrison, Anti-Diet

"If you are waiting for permission to believe you are what you want most to be, I am gladly offering it to you
– under the condition that you put in the work, that you allow yourself room to grow and become, that you know it is never finished, not because you are imperfect (though we all are) but because the possibilities are too vast.”
-Rachel Wiley, Fat Girl Finishing School

“One of the big problems
with a society that’s so ready to credit thinness with anything good and to blame fatness for anything bad is that we get this idea that the only way to improve anything is by somehow making our bodies smaller. And so it gives people the idea that there’s nothing to do except lose weight, when in fact there are many, many things that we can do.”

⧫ Liberated Life Coach
⧫ Anti-Diet Advocate
⧫ Mama of Daughters
I’m a therapist-turned-coach with 20 years of combined experience in trauma therapy, family and group counseling, child welfare, social work, and disordered eating. As your coach, I bring expertise in Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, Body Trust®, and Internal Family Systems to our work together.
I also have lived experience as a fat woman, currently in active recovery (because it really does last a lifetime) from disordered eating and diet culture, and managing my own anxiety, grief and loss. I am the mama of two young daughters, a role that has energized me more than anything else to do everything I can to spread the anti-diet and fat liberation messages, not just in our little family bubble, but into our surrounding community and beyond, with them, through them, and on behalf of them.
Let’s grow and thrive together.

Your questions are totally normal
I’ve Got Answers!
Will working with you help me lose weight?
We don’t know what will happen to your weight when you give up dieting, and it doesn’t matter at all in terms of your health or worthiness. When you work with me, our focus will be on shifting perspective, changing harmful and counterintuitive habits, and enhancing your quality of life. I do not offer weight loss services.
Do you provide nutrition advice or counseling?
I do teach the principles of Intuitive Eating and focus on themes around food and hunger, however I am not a dietitian or nutritionist and I do not offer medical advice.
Are Health at Every Size® and Intuitive Eating based on evidence?
Even though I have personal experience with recovery from disordered eating, coaching with me is far from a bunch of “I did it, so you can too!” advice that isn’t based on scientific evidence.
There are so many factors- many out of your control- that impact health, including genetics, medical conditions, discrimination, food insecurity, and trauma. Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, and self-compassion have a robust research base that actually accounts for major factors like weight stigma and other forms of oppression that are completely missing from the studies we see gracing the mainstream headlines. We’ll talk all about it!
Are you providing therapy or coaching? What’s the difference?
While I do have a license in mental health counseling, I’ll work with you as a coach. This means that I can work with anyone, anywhere (yay!) and that I do not diagnose or treat mental illness when we partner together.
Coaching typically focuses on your present to help you with future goals. Therapy typically examines your past to help you manage your present, and therapists diagnose and treat disorders and work with unresolved traumas.
While coaching and therapy are not the same, they are compatible and even complementary. Both coaches and therapists can help you identify strengths, needs, and ways to overcome obstacles that are holding you back.
Are you available on-call or in an emergency?
No. Because this is not a therapy relationship, I will not be available to assist with any mental health crises. If you are experiencing a mental health or medical emergency, please contact emergency services in your area.
Can we work together if I have a health condition?
While everyone who could benefit from this work is welcome, it is best that folks who are medically unstable or are consistently in acute crisis seek medically-based care and/or mental health treatment. If you are currently suffering/actively recovering from an eating disorder, please consult with your medical provider/team prior to working with me. If you have questions about your particular situation, I’ll be happy to share my recommendation as to whether coaching is right for you at this time.
Do you accept insurance?
Unfortunately, health insurance does not reimburse for coaching services. On the plus side, taking insurance out of the equation allows me to offer equity pricing and to focus 100% of my time and energy on client care.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes! Both my individual session and group program tracks offer equity-based pricing options.
Do you offer refunds?
Individual sessions are paid in advance, so they are yours to use whenever you are ready. There is a 48-hour cancellation policy for scheduled sessions, meaning you can reschedule a session if you cancel with at least 48 hours’ notice. Any missed sessions or sessions canceled sooner than 48 hours prior to start time will be considered used sessions and are not refundable.
Do you ever meet in-person?
In an effort to make myself accessible to anyone anywhere, all sessions with me are conducted virtually.
Is there anyone who would not be the right fit for your services?
If you are seeking a weight-loss program, you won’t find it here. But if you are genuinely curious and looking to ask more questions, great! You may not feel fully on-board with anti-diet concepts yet, and that makes sense. There’s a lot of unlearning to do!
Is the group program or individual coaching the best fit for my needs?
If you are unsure how best to work with me, I am happy to meet for a free 30-minute discovery call and we can figure it out together!
